POWER WHEEL

Inspired by the Hi-Fi world

We thought bike lights should be as easy to operate as a volume knob on your stereo. Now they are. Goodbye to fidgety buttons. Need more power? - turn the wheel forward. Need more battery life? - turn it backward. Simple.

Frequently asked questions

Volume 800 or 1500 — which should I get?

Pick the 800 if you want a smaller and lighter light, or want a more discreet helmet-mounted option. Pick the 1500 if you ride unlit roads or gravel in the dark, especially at high speed, want maximum brightness and battery life, or do bikepacking. Both share the same dial control, the same Garmin-pattern mount, and a swappable battery; the 1500 is a slightly longer body in aluminium with more cell capacity.

How bright is the Volume 800?

800 lumens at maximum — plenty for commuting, cycle paths, and most road riding.

Does it use the same battery as the 1500?

No — the Volume 800 uses a smaller 3200 mAh battery in 18650-format size, while the 1500 uses a 4000 mAh 21700-format size. Spare batteries for each are sold separately and aren't interchangeable.

Does it fit a Garmin mount?

Yes. Same Garmin quarter-turn pattern as the Volume 1500, with the included GoPro adapter for under-bar or helmet mounting.

How does the dial work?

Bookman's patented Power Wheel is a tactile dial on the side of the light. Turn it to step through brightness — intuitive and no need to cycle through button presses and unwanted modes. It works with gloves, in the cold, and you can adjust on the move without taking your eyes off the road. It lets you always ride with optimal power, which enhances runtime.

Can I charge while riding?

Yes. For ultra-distance rides you can plug in a USB-C power bank and continue riding while charging. Works with most USB-C power banks.

Can I swap the battery?

Yes. The Volume battery is user-replaceable — open the rear hatch, slide the battery out, slide a fresh one in. Spare batteries are available so you can carry a second one for bikepacking and long gravel rides.

Why won't my light turn on?

If your Volume won't turn on, the most likely cause is Lock Mode. Turn the dial to any setting other than the highest-power position, then press and hold the power button. Lock Mode prevents the light switching on by accident in your bag, and pressing the buttonin lock mode just makes the indicator blink. Also check that the battery is correctly inserted and fully charged.

What handlebar diameters does the Volume fit?

The Volume comes with two straps that cover 22–32 mm. Many riders also use their own Garmin-style handlebar mount or combined computer and GoPro mount instead of the included mount to get an exact fit on their bars. Check what mounts fits with your handlebar. In doubt contact customerservice@bookmanvisibility.com — we can usually help.

Does it fit a Garmin out-front mount?

Yes. The Volume's underside has the Garmin quarter-turn pattern, so it slots directly into a Garmin out-front mount or aero mount. The included GoPro adapter also lets you use the under-Garmin "double mount" or "action camera mount" for computer + light.

Can I replace the Curve strap?

Yes. Replacement straps for both Curve Front and Curve Rear are available — email customerservice@bookmanvisibility.com with your order number and we'll send you a fresh strap.

How do I charge the Curve?

Use the included USB-C cable to charge the light from any USB-C charger, laptop, or power bank. The LED indicator turns from red to green when full.

Where can I mount the Curve Rear?

The Curve Rear mounts on your seatpost using one of the included silicone straps.

Is the Curve waterproof?

The Curve is rated IPX4 — splash- and rain-resistant for normal cycling conditions. Don't submerge it; if you ride in heavy rain regularly, dry the USB-C port before charging.

Will my light blind oncoming traffic?

Bookman front lights use a carefully designed beam pattern that concentrates light on the road ahead while limiting glare upward. Aim the light at the road, not the horizon — the top of the beam should hit the ground roughly 5–10 meters in front of your wheel depending on your speed. On the Volume 1500/800 you can also drop instantly to a lower power with the dial.
